Experience & Background
My most recent role as the VP of Client Services & Operations has been for an email marketing agency for the past eight years. I created company processes to onboard B2B and B2C clients which included setting multiple strategies to grow their business, fine-tuning voice and branding, as well as being hands-on with content writing and deliverable production. I ran both large and small teams, trained and mentored for skill development, implemented best practices company-wide, and participated in in-house marketing projects from website content to new service initiatives. Beyond that, I’ve worked as a senior marketing specialist for a major credit union, a marketing director and technical writer for an RFID software organization, and owned/ran my own business for 13 years as a 3rd Degree Black Belt Instructor of multiple martial arts schools while simultaneously completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Marketing.
What I Love
I live in North Idaho full of trees, mountains, and lakes, and I love the outdoors. Hiking, kayaking, snow skiing, and golf are all on the top of my gotta-do list. I love to read and my bookshelves—and Kindle library—are overflowing. My current read is Infinite Jest but my favorite genre is historical fiction. I love spending time with my family and friends in these activities and even binge-watching NCIS, CSI, or my guilty pleasure, Gilmore Girls. I also love coffee and red wine, and my favorite meal of the day is breakfast. Comedy is a must in my life and my current go-to is Sebastian Maniscalco because he just gets me. I love tacos… because who doesn’t?
Favorite Bands
The variety of music that I like is enormous if not a bit insane. I’m Gen-X so you can probably guess most of these. Def Leppard, Eagles, Kansas, Boston, Van Halen, The Beatles, Lynyrd Skynard, The Bangles, Michael Jackson, Spice Girls (don’t judge lol), Avril Lavine, Taylor Swift (but if I have to hear about her and Kelce one more time…), Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac, Creed, Enya, George Winston, James Taylor, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Loren Daigle, Pentatonix, Kari Jobe, and Phillips, Craig, and Dean. Simply put, I love music and there’s an Alexa dot in every room in my house ready to play whatever matches my mood.
Personal Mantra
One of my favorite mantras is something Bruce Lee once said as he was beginning to train a new student and author, Joe Hyams. Empty your cup. “Like this cup,” he said, “you are full of your own opinions and speculations. How can I show you Zen unless you first empty your cup?” Essentially, always be open to new learning and don’t hang onto old habits that are no longer working. Kaizen is also a favorite mantra that encourages continual improvement in everything you do. And then there’s the old standby meme: Corks are for quitters—because it’s funny.
